I asked Jillian to share with us her #thesethreethings, life lessons that have stuck with her though the years. Here's what she had to say:
1. More is more is more: When it comes to style, dress how you feel and not how you feel others want you to dress. When you think it's too much, it's probably perfect.
2. When you don't have a plan, other people's plans become your plans: My dad would always tell me that growing up. When you have no ambitions of your own, the ambitions of others always seem like a good idea. You will never be able to take control of your own life and circumstances if everyone else's motivation takes priority over your own. Make plans for yourself and that should always come first.
3. Be nice, but don't be afraid of saying no: Being nice sometimes has this stigma that you're easily manipulated. But not only will it help with your approachability in social and business situations, but will change your outlook on life to be more positive as a whole. With that said, everyone needs to set boundaries for themselves, and being comfortable with saying no (and you can do that with a smile too) shows that you respect yourself, your brand, and your goals. Yes (wo)men can get far, but no one likes a kiss ass or someone who doesn't have a backbone or their own opinion.
