THESE 3 THINGS 064

These 3 Things

064

1. Just when it feels like you can't go any further, something opens up. No matter how many times I hear this in yoga, it will never be enough. I need to write this on a huge chalkboard in my studio so I actually remember it the next time I feel like I want to quit, run away, or join a rock and roll band. I'm sure there are a ton just waiting for a middle aged mom from the burbs to join them on tour. Dave Grohl, if you are listening, I'm totally your girl.

2. Doe a deer. One of the doe in the neighborhood visited us this morning. I watched her from my studio as she moved along the property sleeping in the sun, then shade, all in between eating our plants. We named her Polly. She's still in the backyard watching us through the windows. Nature rules.

3. Take a knee. I think many of us who have played sports have one time or another taken a knee. But where does it come from? What does it mean? I did a little basic research today and outside of my personal experience of taking a knee when a fellow player on either team is injured or hurt, I also came across a meaning specific to football. To take a knee is an action of the quarterback after receiving the snap in order to end play. By taking a knee, the team essentially runs down the clock without putting the ball at risk. Both these ideas gave me a deeper meaning to taking a knee in protest.

What did you learn today?
