1. If you have the opportunity to get your hair cut and colored like Stevie Nicks in the 70's, do it. Had a ton of fun becoming a Gold Dust Woman today.
2. The importance of the fuck it ring. When I turned 33 my husband and I were having a really rough year. There was a lot of chaos, a lot of loss, and we didn't know it then but things were about to get more insane than we had ever thought possible. It was the beginning of a few years that were really rough on us and really rough on a lot of people close to us. For my birthday that year, he bought me a ring. It was out of budget for any gift really, but was one of a kind and after some thought Matt said, "fuck it, I'm getting you the ring." Whenever I wear that ring I think of all we went through during that time, all that our friends and family went through and that we survived it. It reminds me of our collective strength, resilience, and ability to keep on keepin' on, when the keepin' on was shit.
3. Ask people questions about their stuff. I had not thought about the story behind my fuck it ring in a long time. I got to share it today because a new friend simply asked, "hey where did you get your rings?" I also learned a lot about her from answering that question. Warm fuzzies all around.
What did you learn today?
