PROMPT #3 VIEW

We've had this pair of binoculars for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, we would go camping each summer in Greenport and until we lived out here in the mountains, that was the last I remember using them. They have been a welcome addition to our living room out here in West Marin, and we use binoculars almost everyday to get a closer look at a nearby tree. The branches serve as a perfect perch for a group of red tailed hawks and every once in a while, a peregrine falcon. What started as a single pair of binoculars, has now grown to a collection of 4 or 5 so we can all look at the same time. There is so much about the way we live that is influenced by the constant interaction with nature. It seems like we always have a view of the often funny and interesting daily workings of wildlife. From the swaying of the trees, to visits from coyotes, mountain lions, deer, foxes, snakes, and oh yeah scorpions (ugh) It seems that we all are constantly witnessing each other's comings and goings. Some sort of unspoken quiet agreement takes place. I'm not sure how, but we all seem to find a way to respectfully both agree to being on view and sharing the space.
